TCIS is one of very few schools in the world to offer all three IB programs in a Christian worldview context. TCIS was a forerunner for IB in South Korea, and was the first school in the country to offer all three programs. Every year, students distinguish themselves in academics, athletics, and the arts. Future Ready
TCIS and IB philosophies come together most closely in the idea that we create “learners”. Some programs focus on content-based models which assess students on their recall. TCIS teaches concepts and processes based on the Design Cycle and transfer of knowledge. Students learn to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open minded, caring, risk takers, balanced, and reflective. Ultimately, they are assessed on their ability to create in ways that show the depth of their understanding.
This focus on the person is critical in creating a child who can be successful in life beyond the classroom. TCIS education is flexible and prepares students for success in an ever-changing world.
Boarding Care for For Support and Growth
For families living outside of Daejeon, TCIS offers an on-campus boarding care program. More than a place to sleep, the Boarding Care Program furthers the learning process. Boarding faculty guide and encourage students to be responsible and grow in character. Students have access to academic support, facilities, and a second-family group of peers.
There are many advantages to living in the TCIS Boarding Care Program. We even have students from the local area who enter the boarding program for the the experience. They get an opportunity for university-life preparation now, in a safe and guided way.
Non-profit/Student-focused School
TCIS is different than many international schools in the world today, in that we are a non-profit school. Our primary focus is on students, forward-thinking best practices in education, and the kind of quality education that gives students the confidence to pursue their goals. Beginning in elementary, we ask ourselves, “How can we develop these children into people who enjoy learning and actively look for answers?” As students progress in their learning, we teach critical processes and cycles, and we engage students in the practical application of their learning. In classroom formats, extra-curricular activities, and a pastoral care approach, we design the TCIS learning experience to be uniquely and specifically profitable for students.
As a non-profit school, all tuition and gifted support go toward the betterment of our institution for the good of learning – the development of programs, the careful curating of activities, the recruitment of quality educators, etc.
