To accept your admission, you will need to log in to the Student Centre with an eID, a personalized unique ID for electronic access.
English language proficiency (ELP)
The Faculty of Graduate Studies sets minimum requirements for ELP in the Graduate Calendar. Please note that some graduate programs have ELP requirements that are more rigorous than the minimum requirements set by the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
A Graduate Program Director may exempt an applicant whose first language is not English from the ELP requirement if they meet the following criteria:
The student has completed
- a Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of 3 years in length), or
- a Graduate Degree
in an institution where the language of instruction and examination is English. If the institution has multiple languages of instruction, the Graduate Program Director may ask for confirmation of the language of instruction for your degree.
Eligible institutions must be listed as providing English language instruction in the World Higher Education Database (WHED). Please remember, even if you have a degree from an institution included on this list, exemption from ELP requirements remain at the discretion of Graduate Program Directors.

The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).
The University of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
